How do I choose a clothing manufacturer for my brand?

Check four things before you commit: what the minimum order quantity actually covers, how they run sampling, how quality is inspected, and whether they can state a lead time without guessing. A manufacturer who answers those four clearly is usually one you can build a programme with.

What the MOQ covers
We work at 100-500 pieces depending on product type. Ask what sits inside that number - whether labels, packaging and sampling are included or excluded - because two quotes with the same MOQ can be quoting different things.

How sampling runs
The sequence is proto sample, then fit sample, then pre-production sample, each approved before the next. A manufacturer who collapses those stages to save time is trading your fit against their schedule.

How quality is inspected
Look for inspection during the run as well as at the end. Ours is a multi-stage process: inline checks catch drift while the order is still on the line, and a final inspection catches anything that reached the end of it.

The lead time
An honest answer for a first order is 30-60 days, and 15-25 days for repeats. A first order quoted much faster usually means the sampling stages have been cut.

Where it is made matters too. Ludhiana produces over 60% of India's knitwear exports, and proximity to the mills reduces material cost by 20-30% and delivery by 7-14 days against cities further away.

Send a brief and judge the answer that comes back.

How long does clothing manufacturing take?

How long does clothing manufacturing take?

A standard order takes 30-60 days from approval to dispatch, and a repeat order takes 15-25 days. That is the whole-cycle figure from the point the brief and fabric are agreed, and it includes everything from sampling through production, inspection and packing.

Where the time goes
The process runs in seven stages: design and tech pack, sourcing, sampling, approval, production, quality control, and packaging and dispatch. Sampling is the stage buyers are most often surprised by, because it is deliberately sequential - a proto sample, then a fit sample, then a pre-production sample, each approved before the next begins. Nothing goes on the line until fit, fabric, colour and labels are signed off.

What shortens it
Repeat orders skip the development stages entirely, which is why they run at 15-25 days. Fabric availability matters as much as factory capacity: we source from Ludhiana and Amritsar mills, and being close to those mills trims 7-14 days off delivery compared with manufacturing in a city further from the spinning and knitting base.

What extends it
Custom labelling, packaging and a first-time colour standard all add sampling rounds. Air versus sea shipping affects the tail of the schedule, not the production window.

If you have a fixed launch date, send the brief first - the schedule gets built backwards from it.

What is the minimum order quantity for small clothing orders?

What is the minimum order quantity for small clothing orders?

Celebstitch's minimum order quantity is 100-500 pieces, depending on the product type. There is no single figure for every garment: we confirm the MOQ against the specific style, fabric and construction you send, alongside the price and lead time you are working to.

Why the number moves
The development work at the start of a programme - tech pack, fabric sourcing, sampling and labelling - is fixed whether you order a small run or a large one, so it is spread across the run. A straightforward t-shirt in cotton, polyester or a blend at 100-240 GSM needs fewer operations than a constructed jacket, so it reaches an efficient run length at a lower quantity. Heavier fabric, more trims and more finishing steps push the minimum higher.

What sits inside that range
The same MOQ structure covers t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts at 280-380 GSM, plus denim and pants. D2C clothing brands placing a first production run are one of the groups we manufacture for most often, so an opening order at the lower end of that range is an ordinary request rather than an exception.

After the first order
Once fit, fabric, colour and labels are approved, repeat orders take 15-25 days against 30-60 days for a standard order, because the development stage does not run a second time.

Send your design brief or tech pack with a target quantity and we will come back with the exact MOQ for that style.
